I have enjoyed working on ever challenging projects since 1989. With the goal of creating a comfortable and healthy environment for building users. In very diverse segments: healthcare, cultural sector, educational buildings and office environments.
It is nice to be challenged again and again. Variation in projects, working together in changing teams and the issues of our time (how do we really contribute to a future-proof world with our buildings?), make the work fun and exciting.
One of those special projects where all that comes together is the renovation of the office of De Nederlandsche Bank on Frederiksplein in Amsterdam.
Valstar Simonis has long been active in the healthcare sector. Many of our hospital projects fall under my final responsibility. For example, as a consultant I am currently involved in Amsterdam UMC, UMC Utrecht, Erasmus MC and the Sint Maartenskliniek, among others.
Valstar Simonis is also affiliated with various associations and organizations. In this way, we stay abreast of developments in construction in general and in our field in particular. Some examples are the Dutch Association of Technical Facility Management in Healthcare and the High-rise Building Foundation. Through membership in network organization De Veenmolen, we contribute to the preservation of heritage in the Netherlands. We consider education in our field to be of great importance. From that perspective, I am a member of the Advisory Board for the Academy for Construction & Infra of Avans University of Applied Sciences.
