DOUWE VERLOOP

“One of the great challenges of our time is to translate sustainable ambitions into reality, I like to contribute in this.”

I did my graduation thesis at Valstar Simonis in 2021, since then I have enjoyed working full-time as a mechanical engineering engineer.

What I like about installation engineering is that the results are tangible, both on the inside and outside of a building. It creates a sense of community involvement when you drive past a building where you have been part of the design team. In addition, you make sure that the users experience a pleasant indoor climate. Furthermore, I attach great value to being able to make a direct contribution to sustainability, something for which you get more than enough opportunities at Valstar Simonis.

I received my mechanical engineering education at the Hanzehogeschool in Groningen. In addition, since 2022 I have been following the course Hogere Installatietechniek Werktuigbouwkunde (HIT-W), with which I am developing myself to become an integral installation-technical designer.

I am currently involved in a number of high-profile projects, including the renovation of Groningen's central train station, making the NS real estate more sustainable, and the new construction project of VRIJDAG, the house of amateur art for Groningen.
