In October 2015, the housing of the Municipality of Almelo was assessed with 4-star Breeam. We are proud to have been able to participate in this project and congratulate the Municipality of Almelo on this success.
The project
The new building of Stadhuis Almelo consists of a plinth with two office towers in which, among other things, the council chamber and various faction rooms are located. The office towers are completely designed according to “The New Way of Working”. The floors are split level and connected via inviting stairs. Parking is on top of the roof of the plinth. Here is a parking deck that offers space for approximately 100 cars. The plinth has a largely green roof, which offers residents a pleasant view.
One of the most important spearheads in the design of the town hall was sustainability. Within the integrated design, it was decided to include all installations in an “installation floor” (wing floor principle). A number of sustainable techniques have also been applied: a ATES installation in combination with the use of a surface water system (WOW), natural sun protection, daylight optimization, concrete core activation and demand-driven ventilation. The building is characterized by great flexibility in layout.
The Breeam Excellent certificate was officially handed over on 21 January 2016.
