"CONTRIBUTING TO SUSTAINABLE AND COMFORTABLE BUILDINGS REMAINS PEOPLE WORK AND THAT IS WHAT I LIKE TO DEDICATE MYSELF TO!"

As a founding partner of the  Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC) and a partner of The Construction Campus and the TVVL community 'circular installations' , Valstar Simonis participates fully in the discussion around sustainable building and its development. As director and consultant, I am closely involved in this. Building comfortable, healthy and sustainable buildings remains human work in my eyes. That is what I like to dedicate myself to. From a technical background, I have further developed myself in the field of organization & strategy. Therefore new forms of cooperation (such as integrated design teams, DBM & PPP contracts) have my special attention.

A great example is the renovation, transformation and expansion of the Erasmus MC Research & Education Accomodation program. It is a complex program in which education and research must be able to continue when parts of the buildings are renovated. This requires integral design (with Ector Hoogstad architects, Pieters bouwtechniek, Dr. Heinekamp and Nelissen (building physics). And cooperation with executing parties must also be optimal.

I am also particularly pleased and proud of the various partnerships we have with important organizations such as WUR, UMC Utrecht and Amsterdam UMC. Clients with an important social role where we provide added value to bring and keep their housing in optimal order.

I am active in various networks and organizations, such as NLengineers the lighthouse club (department 't Groene Hart), the DGBC en The Construction Campus. Within Valstar Simonis, as director I am responsible for communication/PR and acquisition/commercial. And as 'cooperating foreman' I try to keep our organization in constant motion. The latter is a characteristic of me as a person. I also contribute privately (through voluntary work) to the development of all kinds of organizations in my environment. And I keep moving myself by running several times a week. And occasionally participating in a long run or trail race.
