On Friday 7 February, our Valstar Simonis employees were guests in Arnhem for the semi-annual office meeting. After being welcomed in the sustainable & organic restaurant FoodVia, the Sustainable Core Team had prepared a presentation on the themes 'sustainability' and 'circularity'. Daniel van Lieshout explained the different methods BREEAM, WELL and GPR. Daniel specifically discussed (using a 'big size' model) the circularity disk, which was developed in close collaboration with the Community Circular Installations of TVVL, and how it can be used in practice.
Then we walked together to the beautiful Province House of Gelderland: Het Gelders Huis for a tour. The tour started in the beautiful monumental building with many beautiful and original details in floors, ceilings and walls. The employees then walked to the new building in which a 21e century translation has been made of the valuable cultural-historical aspects of the monumental building. We ended up in the courtyard; In the new design, this courtyard is covered with an ETFE atrium roof, which significantly reduces energy consumption and the courtyard can now be used multifunctionally for meetings.
Partly due to the installation-technical designs by Valstar Simonis and the building physics advice from DGMR, this building has a high degree of flexibility in layout and use, making it very future-proof.
Upon returning to the restaurant, Paul van Bergen from DGMR explained how the enormous reduction in energy demand in this building was achieved. Paul once again underlined the importance of good cooperation in these types of processes. We ended the day enjoying a delicious meal with local and sustainable ingredients and everyone returned home.
