Successful Completion Of Testing And Commissioning Departure Hall 1 Schiphol

Successful completion of Testing and Commissioning departure hall 1 Schiphol

The last full integral assessment (Total Operational Acceptance Test – TOAT) was performed in the night of 10-11 March 2022, after a long and intensive process of more than 3 years of testing during the various phases of the renovation of Departure Hall 1 at Schiphol.

When the various phases of the renovation were completed, commissioning activities were always carried out to check whether the (safety) requirements were met. This means that various tests and checks have been carried out to assess whether the predefined requirements for the safe use of the area or sub-area have been met. A decision-making body, the Cx-board, eventually gave the green light to start using these areas on the basis of the test results.

By means of the TOAT at the beginning of the year and the re-TOAT of last week, we have been able to determine that the entire departure hall functions in accordance with the safety requirements. The comprehensively tested area includes elevators and escalators, business class lounges, catering establishments, check-in counters and customs controls for both cabin crew and travelers. Several fire alarm panels are active in the area concerned.

The starting point was the delivery of a certified Smoke and Heat Extraction (SHE) installation. For the other installations, the delivery of certifiable installations applied. In the end, we succeeded in delivering a certified fire alarm center and sprinkler system in addition to the RWA installation.

A unique achievement of which we as a project team as well as the organization of Schiphol are very proud!

We were able to conclude the successful commissioning process while enjoying a glass of bubbly.

The commissioning team consisted of a delegation from Valstar Simonis (commissioning authority), ASM, FPC, HSE, Operations First (cooperation VWB and Engie), Kiwa/R2B and Projects.
