After a "break" of 3,5 years, I have been back at Valstar Simonis since August 2020. Then as advisor EDO, now as board member and senior advisor Sustainability and Circularity. I have long been involved in the development of energy projects and find it important to put themes such as circularity and sustainability on the map. Not only at Valstar Simonis but also to play an active role in this for the installation sector as a whole. Because compared to other construction partners, the installation sector still has a lot of steps to take when it comes to the application of circularity.
After my studies (University of Groningen, Master in Real Estate Engineering and Hanze University Groningen, HTS Civil Engineering) I started as a developer of Energy Service Companies at construction company VolkerWessels. And later also at Unica. A fantastic learning school where sustainability, engineering, economics and legal/tax and organizational aspects come together well. Thinking long term is also an integral part of our education: An ESCo is usually rigged for a period of 30 years.
I have been on the board of knowledge association TVVL since 2018. First as responsible for the Region Network, then I took over the portfolio of Marketing & Communication. In May 2022, TVVL organized a major congress: CLIMA2022. A scientific, international congress in the field of heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Here, in addition to the aforementioned themes, developments in digitalization, energy transition and health were also discussed. After all, we all face a huge task to comply with the Paris Climate Agreement by 2030.
In my role as senior sustainability and circularity advisor, I want to make an active contribution to this. But this is only possible in close cooperation with other partners in the building chain. I enjoy the challenge of helping to build on the ambitions of our fine organization. Because we continue to work on integral, sustainable collaborations innovative solutions that contribute to the sustainability of the built environment. I am 100% committed to that.
