"TECHNOLOGY IN THE SERVICE OF PEOPLE, AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND."

After years of living abroad, I returned to the Netherlands with the family in 2020. I was surprised by the strong similarity between my previous employer and the offer from Valstar Simonis. I could therefore immediately continue to build on my career. Until then, I was involved in projects focusing on energy consumption, sustainability, installation engineering projects, building management systems, commissioning, and smart buildings. At Valstar, I was able to pick up that thread immediately.

At various organizations I had the opportunity to work on many projects through multiple roles and functions. The projects themselves varied in scale from specialized research spaces (<100m2) conference buildings and airports of over 100.000mXNUMX.2Many of my projects were in mission critical buildings, such as data centers, healthcare, laboratories, headquarters, control rooms and similar spaces and buildings with critical infrastructure and functions. Especially my experience in designing, installing and managing the supporting building management systems was a good basis for ensuring the quality and sustainability of such projects. mission critical buildings, such as data centers, healthcare, laboratories, headquarters, control rooms and similar areas and buildings with critical infrastructure and functions. In particular, my experience in designing, installing and managing the supporting building management systems was a good basis to ensure the quality and sustainability of such projects.

I have always enjoyed identifying, developing and applying innovative technologies. Sometimes it involved research into new hardware such as energy measurement devices. Other times it was developing software to make it easier to inventory and analyze energy consumption. And sometimes an entire building or the campus itself was an essential part of the research. Like applying auto diagnostics in smart buildings, for example.

Valstar's mission and vision give room for continued growth. I am currently part of a number of interesting project teams, including a commissioning project and a framework agreement at Schiphol Airport. And also the implementation supervision of an international and large-scale new construction project, and a framework agreement at TU Delft. These assignments are well within the range of my experience and background, while at the same time bringing new challenges. This also applies to working with colleagues and our interns. Interns are always a tremendous source of energy for me because of their enthusiasm and questions, among other things. I am now working with some of our interns to develop procedures for selecting and designing smart systems in buildings.
